Topix.net Is Great
I really like Topix. I find myself fetching a big part of my daily news feeds from there. I especially like their directory, were you can subscribe to quite specialized topics from many categories. Topix also has the most complete news source aggregation around.
Two weeks ago, I met with Topix CEO, Rich Skrenta and VP Biz.Dev Michael Markson in Palo Alto. Both very sharp and smart guys. I like the direction they are going in and I don’t really see any reason for using Google New, Yahoo News or any other news aggregator either. They also seems to be very good at monetizing on it as well.
The original founders were the creators of the Open Directory Project he first open development directory for the Internet, and now the largest human-edited web directory. This project is now a property of AOL and is the source from which many of the current web directories, including Google Directory, derive their information.
