It has been a packed/Crazy day at CES in Vegas. We announced a partnership with U3 enabling users to run Maxthon and have all their settings with them wherever they go. Maxthon will be pre-installed on U3 Keys. Check out U3 here. A lot of people came by to say hello today. Scoble dropped by as did Chris Pirillo and interviewed on for his cool podcast The Chris Pirillo Show. Steve Bass of PC World, Margaret Cobb (IE Product Manager), James Bilefield (VP Skype), Safa Rachstchy and Nathaniel Schindler (Piper Jaffray) and many many others. CES is really big, and I haven’t got a chance yet to really take a look on what’s going on yet. Will hopefully have a chance on Sunday when things calm down a bit. Later on in the evening we also had time to chill out with Vista people at the Vista Community Lounge. Windows Vista really looks cool (but reminds me of Tiger OS in some aspects). Had a great chat there with Kris Barton too (Windows Live Portals) about www.live.com their plans and visions for Live.

I am off to CES and Las Vegas for Maxthon today. We have been invited by Microsoft to exhibit with them and we will be there from January 3-8, and then off to Menlo Park for additional meetings. If you are attending CES please drop by our station in the Central Hall in the big Microsoft booth. We will also make new product and partnership announcement on January the 3rd so stay tuned here for more on that. I haven’t planned to cover CES here but I might publish a post here and there on interesting stuff that caught my attention.

What a day today! Today Maxthon also received a very important support from one of the Internet industry’s leading analyst. Safa Raschty, Managing Director and Senior Internet Analyst at Piper Jaffray has made the following statement about Maxthon our potential future:

“Maxthon has passed a classic Internet success test, having achieved significant following entirely through word of mouth and without any marketing spending.  This rapid adoption is a testament to Maxthon’s innovative features and advanced functionality that have made the browser a much more useful tool for its users.  Unlike other browsers that directly compete with Microsoft’s Explorer, Maxthon take advantage of IE’s wide adoption and improves on that.  We believe this strategy, which has the support of Microsoft, could prove to be crucial in gaining Maxthon even wider adoption. Over the next five years, we expect the browser market to undergo significant changes and Maxthon’s technology and innovation are valuable assets for a successful positioning in this market”

Thank you Safa! Your reports and recommendations in the Internet industry will continue to be very valueable for us, particular with regards to China.

A new war has heated up on the IM market – Skype is releasing IM developer tools. This on the same day that Google Talk was launched – what a co-incident…If AOL, MSN and Yahoo got a bit nervous about Google Talk, I guess this announcement wasn’t too welcome either. Tuff days on the IM market – but very interesting too, competition is healthy and will bring out the best products, however I believe this will be the beginning of the end of the weaker IM’s that are already struggling to keep it up. The Skype IM developer tools will enable softwares and web services to integrate Skype IM to their offering which is really very welcome. Expect to see Skype IM on many desktop applications and web services like dating, social networks and blogs in the near future. And by the way, why not on browsers too?
